Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt
A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents his maiden trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from spring of 2023.
The win also signifies the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 different events.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.
His retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on court had caused some to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was over.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved service.
He recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional title, gained dominance to push for a decider.
He defended 4 early-game break points in a close final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
