Major Russian Strikes Disrupt Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian aerial assaults have caused power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were hurt while inhabitants in the city's east were experienced blackouts and encountered problems to water supplies, according to municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a minor was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has increased strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from international partners to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not window dressing but firm measures - from the United States, European nations and the G7 - in delivering defensive weapons and applying sanctions," mentioned in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen rockets struck the country's power systems, characterizing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were striving to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles hit energy infrastructure and residential structures in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people injured in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.

Area administrators said the city experienced heavy assaults throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child died and three other people were injured.

The strikes come after periods of air raids in the territory, parts of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The whole nation is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to identify.

Government officials told reporters that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the country's energy grid, with strikes already affecting fuel infrastructure.

Officials stated energy workers and government agencies were anticipating more assaults.
